Vista - LosEvolution’s Plunge

Vista….Speechless Yet?

Plunge #1: Vista Home Premium

It turned out pretty good. It was a carbon copy of XP Home. It had no group policy editory that I liked with XP Pro.

Machine Installed:

Dell Inspiron 1150
INTEL Celeron 2.6GHZ
1GB Ram

Plunge #2: Vista Ultimate Edition
Now this one was a different story. It was not all roses, but it did work. As for system performance, it was okay….after I sized it down. The Group Policy Editor worked well in this OS just as much as XP. No Aero, unfortunately.

Plunge #3: Vista Ultimate Edition
This one was the best experience. I have it installed on a pretty decent machine and it is panning out pretty nice so far. Aero looks pretty cool and I have also tried out WindowBlinds on it. After a lot of customization, I have really made it cool. The only thing is that it will crash with certain P2P progs, specifically Ares P2P. Dreamscene works out pretty nice also. The only downside is this crazy little error I get about a bad page file. It did a complete freeze of my system, rendering it inoperable. I tried dealing with this thing in many different ways, such as deleting my page file. It worked, but I wanted a more permanent solution.

Machine Used: (THE RIG)
Biostar TFORCE 6100 Motherboard- 1 Maxtor 320GB SATA HDD
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ CPU
2 GB g.Skill DDR2-800 RAM
Apevia 500W PS
Samsung 18x DVD Burner- Samsung 17 inch LCD Monitor
After noticing how much it crashed on me, I ended my Vista run after a 4 -month plunge. I’ll return to it eventually once I learn a lot more about it, but all-in-all, it was a great experience that I look forward to doing someday.
