XP Service Pack 3 – Diving in Head First
Basically, Windows XP Service Pack 3 is a patch-up. Unlike Service Packs 1 and 2, it does not change anything pertaining to the look of the Operating System. A lot of work is done under the hood.

Windows® XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the operating system. This update also includes a small number of new functionalities, which do not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system. This white paper summarizes what is new in Windows XP SP3. You can obtain Windows XP SP3 from Windows Update, at http://update.microsoft.com.
It is not an operating system change, it is basically Microsoft plugging holes. I like the concept and I like the fact that Service Pack 3 is pretty stable.
One Downside: Make sure you like Internet Explorer. If you have IE7 or even IE8Beta installed before Service Pack 3, you’re stuck with it. There are no reinstall or uninstall options. Otherwise, it is a great service pack.
