A lot of people look at this as the end all to problems, but it is not that. It is a mere shield to a fraction of the issues that plague PCs.

Norton
Norton throws a lot into the picture with its 360 and Internet Security products. It hogs a lot of resources on older machines, but the new stuff can handle it.

Microsoft
Microsoft is sticking its hand in the cookie jar with Security Essentials. A free solution……definitely an option (as well as a personal choice)

Eset
Nod32 was the choice of choices. Small, compact, powerful, and a decent price tag. Very affordable if you believe in paying for an antivirus

Drivers
PLEASE, go to your manufacturer’s site and download the latest drivers and support for your hardware. Optimal software, optimal performance….end of story.

Malware/Spyware Killer
Malwarebytes….love it, live it, and buy it!

Microsoft Updates
Set the PC to autoupdate at a time you have it on and just let it go……

Office Suite
OpenOffice or Microsoft Office? Take your pick.

Sixty four bit computing, has been around since the beginning of computing, but it wasn’t in the mainstream consumer marketplace until just a few years ago, while AMD announced AMD64 almost adecade ago. Getting the rest of the market to join up was aided by Intel’s own implementation called Intel® 64. From there, you needed an operating system that supported the technology and applications that were compatible to take advantage of it. Before Windows® Vista and OS X 10.6, that was hard to come by. You’ve probably seen that Windows® 7 comes in 32 and 64-bit version and wondered what the difference is.  Even now, I’m still surprised at how long it’s taken to convert everyone over.

So, why the mirror?

Some people like to remind you how you used to be. I tell those people, “That was me, deal with who I am now, or step off.”
It’s your choice. If people are trying to change their lives into something positive, let those people change. Who knows, they may find their way back if you were left behind.
